One-stop support for the introduction of self-consignment for local governments and enterprises using idle land

MIRAIT ONE Corporation (head office: Koto-ku, Tokyo; President and Chief Executive Officer: Toshiki Nakayama; "MIRAIT ONE"), SOLCOM Co., Ltd. (head office: Naka-ku, Hiroshima-shi, Hiroshima; Representative Director and President: Hiroki Ohashi; "SOLCOM") and Chugokutsushinshizai Corporation (head office: Shiwa, Higashihiroshima-shi, Hiroshima; Representative Director and President: Toshio Takatsuka; "Chugokutsushinshizai") commenced demonstration operation of self-consignment aimed at promotion of introduction of renewable energy on January 1, 2024.

Self-consignment is a mechanism for the transmission of electricity generated at a company's own power generation facility in a remote location to locations using power within the company via a power transmission and distribution network. There are heightened needs for self-consignment as means enabling the use of renewable energy in cases where it is difficult to secure space on rooftops or vacant land for the installation of solar power generation equipment in locations using power. Self-consignment can not only reduce CO2 emissions, but is also expected to reduce electricity charges due to using power generated by a company's own power generation facilities. In addition, it also has the benefit of curbing the risk of rising electricity charges due to fuel oil prices because fuel adjustment fees and renewable energy impositions do not arise for electricity used through self-consignment.

Various procedures such as concluding an agreement with a transmission and distribution business operator, registration as a business operator with the organization for cross-regional coordination of transmission operators and submission of daily power generation plans are required for the implementation of self-consignment. Through this demonstration operation, MIRAIT ONE Group will accumulate expertise for the provision of one-stop services to customers engaged in private power generation and captive use.

In the demonstration operation conducted by the MIRAIT ONE Group, MIRAIT ONE will install solar power generation equipment on the rooftops of a logistics warehouse (Shiwaryutsu, Higashihiroshima-shi, Hiroshima) of SOLCOM group company Chugokutsushinshizai, and supply the power generated to the SOLCOM Hiroshima Branch Building (Konan, Hiroshima-shi, Hiroshima) in a separate location. Chugokutsushinshizai will provide the installation location required for the solar power generation equipment, and MIRAIT ONE and SOLCOM will cooperate to handle the contracts, procedures, construction work and operation required for self-consignment. Throughout the operation, efforts will be made to increase the precision of predictions related to electricity consumption in the usage location and the amount of power generated at the power generation site, with the aim of minimizing imbalance fees incurred in the event of a difference compared with the predicted amounts. The amount of power transmitted in this self-consignment is anticipated to be around 30 percent of the power consumption of the SOLCOM Hiroshima Branch.

The MIRAIT ONE Group will accumulate operating expertise through the operation of self-consignment within the group starting on January 1, 2024, and from fiscal 2024 onwards, will utilize conventional construction expertise it has developed through construction of many solar power generation facilities, in addition to expertise on procedures required for self-consignment accumulated through this demonstration and operational expertise based on high-precision prediction to provide one-stop support spanning from planning to construction and operation to promote the introduction of renewable energy using idle land and to address the need to reduce electricity charges, thereby contributing to the promotion of decarbonization of local governments and companies.
