~Increasing efficiency of operation, maintenance and management of industrial water~

MIRAIT ONE Corporation (head office: Koto-ku, Tokyo; President and Chief Executive Officer: Toshiki Nakayama; "MIRAIT ONE") has launched a cloud-based "Smart Water Meter Remote Monitoring System" for water-supply business operators. The system is designed to improve the efficiency of operation, maintenance, and management in industrial water businesses, which face challenges such as aging facilities, increasing costs, and disaster countermeasures.

This system offers the following three features:
1.Greater efficiency of flow management operations (meter reading, block flow monitoring) Enabling remote meter reading at any time, the system allows reducing the manpower and time required for meter reading, and promotes paperless operation to achieve smarter meter reading. It can also be connected to flow meters at points on the pipe network to monitor the flow rate for each block.
2.Faster response to problems and disasters
In the event of an emergency, such as a power or water outage, the system makes it possible to quickly identify the area and ascertain the status of the situation, thereby speeding up initial response and enabling checking of the restoration status when encountering trouble or disaster.
3.Connectable to flow meters*1 of various companies (vendor-free)
The control panel*2 of this system is compatible with all data communication methods*3 and can be connected to flow meters*1 of various companies (vendor-free). Therefore, when renewing water meters, which are required by the Measurement Act to be replaced every eight years, replacement costs can be optimized by not being restricted to a specific vendor's product.

Using the cloud for this system with these features can reduce the initial introduction cost, making it easier to proceed with installation of the system. Depending on the various needs of water-supply businesses, MIRAIT ONE plans to support remote monitoring of sensor data such as water pressure and water quality, and enable linkage to a water charge control system*4. Since the system is highly scalable, we can respond flexibly to system expansion, integration and other needs of water-supply business operators that are considering public-private partnerships, including wide-area expansion*5 and water PPP*6.

In addition, MIRAIT ONE has an extensive engineering track record, including numerous replacements of flow meters*1 and control panels*2 in government-designated cities, etc., and provides a total solution-based service from system to installation.

Through these efforts, MIRAIT ONE will contribute to long-term operation, quality maintenance, and management efficiency in water-supply businesses, which are facing social challenges such as aging facilities, a shrinking workforce, and declining burden-bearing capacity, thereby playing an important role in realizing a sustainable society.

<Glossary>

Flow meters*1: Flow meters include water meters that measure flow rate by electromagnetic or impeller methods, and ultrasonic flow meters that measure the flow rate inside pipes using ultrasonic waves from outside the pipes.
Control panel*2: Flow indicator with functions such as totalizer, recorder, and printout output.
Data communication method*3: 8-bit telegram, RS232C/RS485, LAN, etc.
Water charge control system*4: A system for managing the calculation, billing, and payment of charges to water supply users.
Wide-area expansion*5 : To engage in the water-supply business in cooperation or in an integrated manner across municipalities whose local governments are water-supply business operators in those municipalities.
Water PPP*6: A public-private partnership model targeting the water supply sector, including water supply, industrial water supply, and sewerage. It is a generic term that combines the concession (public facility operation projects) method and the "maintenance and renewal integrated management model."
