【MIRAIT ONE and The Power of Forests and Water】Sign Agreement to Promote Small-scale Hydropower Generation Projects for Realizing Regional Revitalization and a Decarbonized Society

MIRAIT ONE Corporation (head office: Koto-ku, Tokyo; President and Chief Executive Officer: Hidemune Sugahara; "MIRAIT ONE") and K.K. The Power of Forests and Water (head office: Shimoichi-cho Yoshino-gun, Nara; President and Representative Director: Ryuzo Kaimoto; "The Power of Forests and Water") entered into a partnership agreement in February 2026 to promote the small-scale hydropower generation business aimed at regional revitalization of the Hokushin area in Nagano and the Chuetsu area in Niigata, and realization of a decarbonized society.

In recent years, strengthening measures against global warming and increasing the energy self-sufficiency rate have become pressing issues. While the introduction of mainstay renewable energies such as solar and wind power generation is progressing significantly, the amount of power generated fluctuates greatly due to weather conditions, highlighting the importance of stabilizing the electrical power system.
Small-scale hydropower generation is a nature-friendly power generation method that can exist in harmony with local communities because power is generated using existing agricultural waterways and river flows, requiring less water and no large dams. In addition, because it is not easily affected by weather conditions, the facility utilization rate is high, and stable power generation can be expected throughout the year. With hydropower being a type of renewable energy with a low carbon footprint, this method is attracting attention as a means of generating energy with excellent power generation efficiency.

In order to promote sustainable use of local resources through small-scale hydropower generation, and to strengthen the economic foundation, MIRAIT ONE and The Power of Forests and Water will work together to advance the small-scale hydropower generation business by utilizing the technology, know-how and expertise of both parties and leveraging each other's strengths.
We will accelerate our initiatives to co-create a future that connects regional communities to the world with the aim of contributing to the realization of a sustainable society.

[Summary of the Agreement]
- Role of MIRAIT ONE: Consensus building with local communities and municipalities to plan and implement the initiative as a business
- Role of The Power of Forests and Water: Preliminary studies of hydropower generation projects and consulting for power plant development, etc.
