[MIRAIT ONE Corporation] Ehime Prefecture's Digital Implementation Acceleration Project "TRY ANGLE EHIME" Continues to be Adopted
Promoting DX in marine aquaculture in Ehime Prefecture by making Wi-Fi area available for communication environment at sea

On June 6, MIRAIT ONE Corporation (head office: Koto-ku, Tokyo; President and Chief Executive Officer: Toshiki Nakayama; "MIRAIT ONE") was selected to participate in Ehime Prefecture's "TRY ANGLE EHIME" project for accelerating digital implementation, which it has been a part of since fiscal year 2023.

Uwajima City, Ehime Prefecture, is facing a shortage of successors and a shrinking population of marine aquaculture farmers and was considering the introduction of smart feeders*1 as one of the solutions. However, the conventional communication method, LTE, was a bottleneck in the introduction of the system due to its high communication cost and inadequate communication environment at sea.

MIRAIT ONE has been participating in the "TRY ANGLE EHIME" project, a digital implementation acceleration project launched by Ehime Prefecture in fiscal year 2022 and has been promoting Wi-Fi coverage over the sea since fiscal year 2023. As of fiscal 2023, MIRAIT ONE converted marine aquaculture farms into a Wi-Fi coverage area and established an environment in which multiple feeders can be operated from a single Wi-Fi base station, instead of the conventional communication environment in which one LTE line was used for each feeder, thus confirming the effectiveness in reducing communication costs. The marine Wi-Fi base station employs solar panels for power supply.

Based on these results, in this fiscal year, we aim to expand the Wi-Fi area over the sea and will use the new HOP technology*2 to verify whether it is possible to ensure stable communication with smart feeders and smart devices installed farther out at sea, as well as to reduce communication costs. Continuing from the previous fiscal year, MIRAIT ONE will ensure lower communication costs and communication quality by expanding Wi-Fi coverage over the sea and promote DX for the marine aquaculture industry in Uwajima City, Ehime Prefecture.

MIRAIT ONE will continue to explore new solutions using Wi-Fi communication networks to solve issues faced by fishermen through the creation of Wi-Fi areas over the sea.

The image of this project is as shown in the attached sheet.

*1 Smart feeders use sensors to monitor the condition of fish and feed them accordingly. Feeding can be adjusted via smartphone or PC using wireless communication even from remote locations far from the sea. Some devices are equipped with AI to determine the appetite of fish.
*2 HOP technology is a technology that allows the use of wireless communications over a wide area by having multiple wireless communication base stations each transmit data via other adjacent wireless communication base stations.

<About MIRAIT ONE Corporation>
MIRAIT ONE Corporation was launched on July 1, 2022 through the integration of MIRAIT Holdings Corporation, MIRAIT Corporation, and MIRAIT Technologies Corporation. MIRAIT ONE has established "co-creating an exciting future through challenges and technology" as its purpose (significance of existence), and is engaged in the resolution of issues faced by customers and society and regional revitalization by promoting initiatives such as urban development and regional development, corporate DX and GX, green business and global business based on the technical capability cultivated until now in telecommunications facility construction and the civil engineering business.

<TRY ANGLE EHIME>
This project is implemented as an adopted project of the FY2024 TRY ANGLE EHIME Promotion Project "Digital Implementation Acceleration Project".

トライアングルエヒメロゴ.pngEhime Prefecture invites proposals from the private sector (including consortiums) to address local issues in a variety of industrial fields in Ehime Prefecture and adopts proposals with high feasibility for implementation of digital technology and horizontal development within the prefecture. For the adopted projects, a consortium will be formed with local businesses to verify the implementation of digital solutions that will lead to solutions to the issues.
